Well, I for one am excited about the year ahead for the Capricorn Gospel Choir! We have many adventures on the horizon for us this year and it promises to be full of fun and of course, great music!

This website will be the place to keep up to date with what is happening for us throughout the year. I will be posting important details about dates and events up here on a regular basis. I also hope to post videos and photos of our adventures along the way.

This will be a place where Choir members can keep informed about important details and perhaps the odd practice tip here and there… You will also be able to show-off our amazingness to your friends and family.

STAYING INFORMED

If you are a member of the Capricorn Gospel Choir, I am currently overhauling my email system. I am setting up a Mail Chimp account to help me keep my monkey business in order. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, do not worry. You will still be receiving regular email communication from me with important information, Mail Chimp is just a program that helps me to stay organised.

Also, you can subscribe to this website, by clicking the +follow button (at the bottom of the page). If you do that, it will ask you to register with your email address. If you do this, you will receive an email with a link to this website every time I put a new post up about our various shenanigans.

IMPORTANT DATES

Rehearsals have recommenced for the year. We meet in the upstairs room of the Yeppoon Community Development Centre, 80 John Street.

  • Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 9pm for the duration of the school term.
  • Village Festival is on 9-11 August.
  • Legend and the Locals 23 August. – More details on this soon.
  • There will be another Vocal Workshop Weekend on Keppel this year. date TBA.

It is always exciting to be beginning a new adventure with some great people. I can’t wait to see what the year ahead has for us all.

The Capricorn Gospel Choir is a community Choir based in the beautiful town of Yeppoon. This choir exists for the pure joy of singing together. We sing in the traditional African American Gospel genre. There is a rich history behind the gospel music tradition with its roots in African American slavery. Songs from this tradition are uplifting with themes of hope and freedom. These songs are harmonically rich and easy to learn. All of this make Gospel songs a joy to sing. This choir is unique in that our focus is on building community through music. There are not audition requirements and musical knowledge or experience is not a requirement for members. All you need is a love for singing and a love for people.
